These are the recipes I use every day . . . not just my own, but also my favorites from family, friends, and other sources. It is a continual work in progress as I fine-tune recipes, add photos, and try new things. Please leave your comments so that I can learn from you too!

Sugar Cookies

3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 egg
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 400F.

Mix together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

Combine butter/margarine, egg, sugar, and vanilla. Cream together on high speed for 2 minutes.

Add sour cream and half of the flour mixture to the butter/sugar mixture. Blend on low speed just until moistened, then mix on high until smooth.

Stir in remaining flour mixture by hand.

Roll dough out to 1/4 - 1/2" thickness and cut into shapes. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool on rack and decorate.
